His team had to master a variety of windy conditions through all the event and managed by Ainslie  done an  excellent job. It was a good event for the Slovenian Jure Orel aswell. He  reached the finals  on the Slovenia Match Race cup in his third attempt
Third place  goes to the the biggest surprise of the event, the Italian Simne Ferrarese who astonished with the win over  Keith Swinton (2:1). Overall it was a very interesting event for the 10 teams invited in Koper, altough the wind sometimes refused to cooperate, especially the first and the last day of the  Match Race.

Koper, 26.6.2009

After two days of very light winds and delays, perfect conditions today helped the Regatta comitee  of the grade 2 Slovenia Match race cup to  bring the Round Robin series to the   19th flight. The moderated westerly  that  built up to 15 knots was ideal for sailing. In that conditions emerged  the young australian talent Keith Swinton who finished the day unbeaten with 5,5 points because of the acccident he had yesterday with Rui Boia. The Aussie  was the star performer today and is close to the semifinals. Swinton showed a lot of agressiveness especially during the match against Phil Robertson in the 11th flight. Both of them have recieved the penalty  but Swinton remained gathered till the end and took a win in the final of the match.

The Slovenia Match race cup started in a light breeze this morning, No more then 8 knots during the first day of the competition, but fortunately The One design racing boats(9,99 m) have been especially developed for this type of wind conditions.

The New Zealand Waka team with Phil Robertson won over Jure Orel and his »Eagles«.  The second »big surprise« of the day, has come from the Italian skipper Simone Ferrarese, who showed excellent sailing against the  two time winner of the Slovenia Match race cup, Southafrican Ian Ainslie.
The wind dropped in the afternoon and the organizing comitee with a lot of efforts completed only six flights of the round robin.
